The Studio is Mandatory – The Stage is its Heart and Soul
Our school has a unique training advantage in that it has its own 800 seat theatre.
Students benefit enormously from the ever increasing number of performances throughout the year as well as classes, rehearsals and workshops conducted on the stage.
A dancer’s profession is on the stage and we believe strongly that the more accustomed and familiar a student is with the stage and its working procedure a better and more assured performance follows. No other school can offer this incredible specialized training advantage and unequalled preparation for a career in dance.
Having our own theatre gives us the opportunity to present large scale, professionally staged productions to a wide audience on a regular schedule in a public forum.
As part of the 3 year Advanced Diploma of Arts (Elite Performance) CUA60113 the students’ dance education is broadened with an extensive repertoire which includes Full Length Giselle, La Sylphide, Nutcracker, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Swan Lake Act III, Don Quixote , Le Corsaire , Paquita , Scheherazade, Carmen, Othello, Coppelia.
Our repertoire is further enhanced by many new contemporary works choreographed and designed on the students by International and Australian choreographers. Flamenco and Jazz are also a part of the students’ repertoire providing a sensible balance between these 2 components for the student’s ongoing development. The NTBS appreciates that all students are different and specially designed programs are in consultation with the Artistic Director.
